As I saw recently, and Bosol and I discussed last night, MGM is going to produce a Metro 2033 movie, I'll include a link out to a site that confirms these details. More to follow as it unwinds. As we both decided (Bosol and myself), the chances of this being utter shit are very high. Thoughts? The link to see the article for yourself.

Yeah... It would be a great film if they did it right. I really hope they try to recruit good actors. Because much of the films value will be based on the struggle and bleakness of the surrounding survivors. And please... Oh please let it be in Russian! I would be pissed if they had corny actors speaking with fake russian accents!

Knowing that MGM is the movie that gave us the craptastic film version of Northern Lights (renamed the Golden Compass) and knowing that American film companies will always simplify settings and stories to make them more appealing to the American public (their target audience), we cannot expect anything good from this.
I think MGM will take all the usual steps and give Metro 2033 a more "American" spin to it, to make audiences feel more at home. The worst that could happen is setting it in the USA.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=umDr0mPuyQcThe only way to reprimand that is to add in tons and tons of action so we are distracted from their murder of a great story! Maybe writers of Metro books will be allowed to direct some of it?
