Okay, so I just read the chapter where Artyom is in the library. Seeing as the librarians in the game were more annoying than scary, and that they were kinda funny, i didn't expect myself to be scared. I was wrong. The description of that librarian up close is probably one of the most terrifying things that i have ever read. I don't know why.
Anyways, does anyone know how they came about, or have Glukhovsky and the other metro authors left that a mystery?

I don't know but they seem to act like apes in the game but, I haven't gotten that far in the book yet.

They're quite menacing in the game, but more than that - they're frustrating.

Oh my gosh! The seen with the Librarian and the Brahmin dude is so creepy! Yeah... one of my favorite parts in the book. Glukhovksy never really explains their existence...

My headcanon on Librarians is that they're mutant gorillas who escaped from the zoo or something.

I do believe that the Moscow State Zoo is not far from.
