We'll start with firearms, since they are the most widespread kind of weapon in the Metro. Due to the extreme lack of resources, more exotic firearms are practically non-existent in the Metro, but there is a huge supply of Kalachnikovs, Mosin Nagants and other rifles once used by the Soviet and Russian armies.
Pistols:
-Nagant M1985.
-Tokarev TT-30.
-Makarov PM.
-"Lolife" automatic pistol.
Shotguns:
-"Duplet" double-barreled shotgun (Metro made).
-Uboyneg automatic shotgun (Metro made).
-Fort 500 pump action shotgun.
-Ashot one-shot compact shotgun.
-Bigun (Metro-made).
Sub-machine guns and machine-pistols:
-PP-19 Bizon.
-Skorpion SA vz. 61.
-UZI.
-APS Stechkin.
Assault Rifles/rifles:
-Bastard (Metro-made assault rifle).
-AK-47.
-AK-74.
-AKS-74U.
-SKS Simonov semi-automatic rifle.
-Mosin Nagant bolt-action rifle.
-"Valve" bolt-action rifle: A Metro-made rifle meant to be a possible replacement for the ageing Soviet Mosin Nagants. Unlike other Metro-made firearms it is quite reliable thanks to its simple operating mechanism.
-Kalash 2012: The Russian Armed Forces had just adopted the Kalash 2012 as their main assault rifle before the bombs fell. This means that the 2012 can be found in slightly greater numbers than other prototype weapons. It is, however, more expensive to buy and maintain than the AK-74.
Preved: This heavy duty bolt action rifle was derived from WWII anti-tank gun. Can punch through even the thickest of body armor, even armored vehicles. Fires a massive 12.7x108mm rounds which cost are small fortune each. Very few exist due to the limited amount of ammunition.
-Obrez This is a Mosin Nagant sawn down to it's basics, massive recoil and no sights makes this a favorite for those that prefer concealability over practicality.
Light machine guns:[/b]
-RPD: Probably one of the most common LMGs in the Metro, alongside the RPK-74 family. It is mainly used by station guards and caravan guards, and its ammunition is hard to find.
-RPK-74
Sniper rifles:
-VSK-94.
-SVD Dragunov.
Explosives:[/b]
Proper explosives like grenades are rare in the Metro, so the Metro's inhabitants usually use crude "home-made" explosives to get the job done. Most of them can be made for free with enough skill and knowledge in handling explosives, while others can only be bought from traders or armouries.
-Improvised hand grenades: Dirt common and made out of a tin stuffed with gunpowder and razor blades/nails/scrap metal.
-Dynamite, also dirt common.
-Molotov cocktail: a bottle, some alcohol or petrol and a rag. The most common kind of incendiary used in the Metro, and incredibly easy to make.
-RGD-5 grenade.
Miscellaneous weapons:
-Heavy automatic shotgun: the odd combination of an old machine-gun model and shotgun ammunition. It is a very effective weapon against mutants, and it is usually used to clear mutants out of tunnels. Can only be found in Polis, Hansa stations, Red Line stations and Baumanski Alliance stations.
-Volt Driver: a Metro made gauss gun that uses two magnetic rails to shoot metallic balls at the enemy. It is charged up by hand, and can also be used in close quarters as it delivers an electrifying attack. Can only be found in Baumanski alliance stations or Polis.
-Tihar: a rifle that uses compressed air to shoot metal balls similar to those fired by the Volt Driver. It is very quiet and is quite useful for those who prefer stealth. It needs to be pumped regularly by hand though.
-Hellsing: a pneumatic spear-gun that works along the same lines as the Tihar, only instead of firing metal balls it fires arrows that come in pre-loaded cylindrical magazines. It is a very stealthy and economical weapon, since its arrows can be re-used.
Rare Weapons:
All military grade weapons made before the war and in limited quantities. They are very rare and expensive, since very few of them made it into the Metro. Note: prototypes are not allowed.
-OTs-14 Groza.
-Saiga automatic shotgun.
-Nikonov AN-94.
-9A-91 compact assault rifle.
-VSS Vintorez compact sniper rifle.
-VKS Vykhlop (extremely rare, only available to elite troops of Polis and the Red Line).
Primitive Weapons:
With dwindling resources and poor technical knowledge, ancient weapon designs are making a comeback in the more isolated and poor stations.
Melee:
Anything that can be made with scrap steel and salvaged wood can be put here (weapons requiring complex crafting such as katanas or other exotic weaponry are not allowed). Here are some of the most common melee weapons:
-trench club: widely used in WW1, these are brutal but simple and very effective weapons. The more elaborate clubs can be made from salvaged wood and railway spikes for extra clout, whereas the crudest simply consist in a stick with a block of concrete attached to the business end.
-trench knife/spike: another WW1 invention. Vicious blades made for close quarter combat, the more elaborate ones can feature a knuckle duster handguard, whereas the simpler ones are just a steel spike.
-axes: while most axes seen in the Metro are salvaged wood-cutting models, some stations have started making their own. The old two-handed battle axe from Dark Age Europe has made a comeback in the outer reaches of the Metro, and so has the throwing axe, which makes a decent back-up for when your AK runs out of ammo.
-swords: an iconic Medieval weapon, crude swords made of salvaged steel are also making an appearance in stations lacking in firepower. While most are just hammered and sharpened lumps of steel, some more talented blacksmiths have made some relatively nice blades. Most swords tend to be compact blades ideal for stabbing and slashing in narrow tunnels, but the occasional longsword will also make an appearance.
-spears: like other weapons made useless by the spread of firearms, spears are finding new uses as a station-defence weapon against hordes of mutant. The ancient shield and spear wall has proved to be an excellent tactic for poor weak stations attacked by Nosalis hordes.
Ranged:
-slings: ridiculously simple to make and used since the Neolithic, the sling is a surprising and deadly weapon. Some stalkers have taken to using the sling to quietly kill or scare off mutants on the surface, and when used en masse the sling can easily discourage a pack of Watchmen. The sling has limited use in the underground, however, as the curved path of its projectile is not suited to the Metro's low ceilings.
-bows: a good bow requires some good craftsmanship, and thus bows tend to be rare in the Metro. Nevertheless, some desperate souls have managed to produce some good bows. Using a bow, however, requires years of training and excellent concentration, which usually reduces the bow's role to that of a volley weapon.
-crossbows: while seemingly more complex that bows, crossbows are more common. They are easier to use and can be made from old rifle parts. While more accurate than bows, they have a much longer reload time.
