Name: Bolormaa “Io” Jaakkola
Birthplace: A small town in Karelia.
Age: 25
Gender: Female
Faction affinity : a citizen of the Baumanski Alliance, Io is also a freelance transporter of passengers and goods, and is thus on good standing with most of the Metro's factions.
Physical description: Average height (1 m 70) and a surprisingly strong body due to her activities. She has very blonde hair and blue eyes as well as a round, slightly Asian face with eyes to match. She is almost always covered with engine oil and related grime, and wears a worn set of pre-War overalls, yellow work gloves and a ridiculously old steel mining helmet with an oversized electric light.
Personality: Io is a blunt and rough person who can sometimes rub people the wrong way. She loves mechanics and loves her locomotive, which she refers to as a “he” and talks to rather often (albeit away from any prying eyes or ears). Ironically she is a Buddhist despite her shady dealings, and often worries about her karma and being reincarnated as an unpleasant creature.
History: Io was born in a small town of the region of Karelia, close to the border with Finland. Her family was an odd mix of Kalmyk Mongols and Karelian Finns dating back to the dark times of Stalin's USSR. Her grandmother, a Kalmyk, was deported to Siberia with her family. There she met a Karelian, who had been deported from his native land on suspicion of aiding the Nazis.
A year prior to the War, Io and her family moved to Moscow, where her father had a job at Moscow State Technical University. When the bombs fell, they managed to flee to the nearby Baumanskaya station. As Io grew up, she followed the Baumanskaya way and became more and more interested in technology. By the age of 17 she was working as a mechanic for the Alliance's railcars. At the age of 22, while exploring a forgotten side tunnel near her home station, she found a perfectly preserved pre-war draisine once used for maintenance in the Metro. She claimed the locomotive as her own, and steadily repaired and modified it.
At age 24, she founded her own transport company and offered her services to anyone in the Metro with enough bullets to pay her. She worked for Polis and Hansa while also doing smuggling jobs for Kitai-Gorod or the Red Line. Even the Nazis, despite their hatred for non-ethnic Russians, paid her to transport ammunition and weapons.
Now 25 years old, Io still works as a transporter running goods and people from one end of the Metro to another. Her bright red locomotive has become a known sight in some stations.
Preferred weapon(s): Four-barreled Duplet, wrench, various weapons mounted on her locomotive.
Notes: is the proud owner of a steam-powered locomotive, affectionately named “Kublai Khan”. It is quite a unique machine, as it was built from a salvaged pre-War draisine found abandoned in a side-tunnel. Instead of running on coal or petrol, Kublai runs on biogas obtained from the fermentation of pig manure (a plentiful resource in the Moscow Metro).
Kublai is painted entirely in red, and has a good deal of steel plating riveted or welded onto his frame. He has a driver compartment and a passenger compartment, which is fitted with simple but useful accomodation (good enough to spend a night in a tunnel). Along with these, Io has also fitted Kublai out with some more “unorthodox” features, namely:
-several caches for the smuggling of alcohol, drugs, weapons and people.
-a small Buddhist shrine complete with incense burner and golden Buddha.
-a methane-based flamethrower linked to Kublai's biogas tank.
-a firehose linked to Kublai's water reservoir, which can be used in a pinch to spray boiling water at any attackers
