Where would one acquire these chemicals in the metro?

You can't, you'd need at least a college chem lab.

Well you can produe ethylen either from destilaiting pig shit or swamp gas at an specific temperature. The Sulfur you need can be produced out of pig shit, rotting animals/plants or fruits also out of sewage plant's. Then the last thing you need is chlor, chlor can be produced out of Water (I think there are several parts of the metro system that are near rivers or near canals) and in water unbounded NaCl (basicly salt). So all you need is an fire, metal pots, shit, salt and an station that is willing to let you produce an deadly gas on their ground. Also it seems to me that almost all of our metro assembled explosive weapons are based on pig shit

I would say: it is possible to produce mustard gas in the metro and that atleast the baumanski alliance is able to produce it.

It sounds like you'd be better off flinging a jar of burning pig shit...

Here's an idea for a surface weapon, it'll be big, but it can be done. A Ballista. It's a massive crossbow that fires a bolt the size of a spear or javelin. Would be great for bringing down demons, oversized shrimp, and mutant bears.

Only that burning pig shit will force you to take a shower because of decency, not because of acid burning your skin.
and whilst i love the Baumanski, i heavily doubt that they would ever use their amount of knowledge and technology to create something like mustard gas for offensive purposes. As far as I am concerned, I think they are more isolated, defensive and as they are a small group of stations and people, these guys are intelligent enough not to provoke the bigger factions into open war. I guess they like to be neutral, maintaining their position of superiority in means of science.
For the sake of defense, yes. I can totaly see that. As they have knowledge and resources, they are bound to build up some kind of "wall", so greedy minds won't get the chance to invade them, e.g. for their power supplies. Can't fill that statement with book quotations, but with common sense.
And on the chemical side: yes, all you need to produce mustard gas is a safe laboratory equipment, not even electricity. Just glasware and rubber for isolation, then again heat and anything that contains acid/sulfur/stuff. Again, as the only means to clear a tunnel of this gas would be some kind of ventilation and that would result in radiated air filling the tunnels, anyone capable enough to PRODUCE it would also know that it's a hazard hard to control - an Ultima Ratio.
but, to sum it up. I like the idea.

Yep, its really not the "style" of Baumanski alliance to produce this kind of weapon.
Basicly Mustard gas in the metro is the equivalent to the pre war nuclear bombs. Think of an situation in which two big groups, that are hostile to each other, would aquire Mustard gas. This would cause an cold-war in the metro.
Also the ballista idea sounds really good.

A ballista huh? While I can think of several purposes for such a device, how would you go about building one?
(I'm just curious to see what you guys come up with.)

Well, you don't particularly need wood for it. Metals and such could work just as well if used right.

Well yes that's a given, like I said I'm curious on how you'd make one and what materials.
Me personally, I'm sure you could turn a car into a ballista easily enough.

If any of you guys need ideas for makeshift weapons, look up a YouTube channel called JoergSprave.

I believe you've suggested this before.

The SVT-40 is an old war relic like the Mosin. Only it wasn't produced as much. An SKS is much more likely. Same with the degtyaryov, an RPK would be more likely. As far as light machine guns go, most would be repurposed for station defense or large faction military units. Too heavy and bulky for a lone man.
