1,600000 SVTs were made. While you are correct it would not be as common as a Mosin or an SKS, just because it wouldn't be as common doesn't mean they don't exist in the Metro. Plus, some were sold to Russian civilians as the 'OSK 88', if you check under the legacy header of the page I linked, its mentioned as 'fairly widely available'. You do have a point about the Degtyaryov, it would be quite rare to be sure, any example in the Metro probably would have come from the Museum of the Great Patriotic War.

That is true. But how many of them are going to actually be in Moscow is what I'm getting at. I mean you will have a handful. But many of those older guns got exported to the west or are just spread out in what was the old USSR. It's not inconceivable, but it would be a slightly rarer weapon in the Metro compared to a Mosin or Kalashnikov.

Anyway. Compared to the 37 million Mosins made and the millions of AK's that still roll off the factory line. 1.6 million is small for the amount of weapons expected from Rodina Mats weapons factories in comparison.

Here's one, a Redneck Landmine. Take a shotgun shell, a spring, a nail, and a nice snug tube. Insert the nail first, so that it sits with the point facing up. Finally, a spring is fitted over the nail, making a firing pin. Set the shell on this in the tube. When stepped on, the shell drives the spring down, the nail fired the shotgun shell into said intruders food and leg.

Losing food sounds worse than losing a foot anyways. XD

All of these ideas are pretty awesome. I especially like the ballista idea. With my character being a tinkerer and his main weapon being a bow, I think it would be awesome to have bases outfitted with ballistas. My character could help in the building of them if we included them in one of the story lines.

I'm pretty sure one could find the SVT-40 in the Metro, and a ballista would be a fearsome weapon against larger surface mutants. In the same vein, what about repeating crossbows? I'm pretty sure a weaponsmith could make a few of those with scavenged materials. They're not very accurate, but they could be very effective against mutants or unarmoured raiders underground and could be a cheap alternative to shotguns and Bastards. Older guns like the PPsh-41 could also have been dug up from storage. Maybe Baumanskaya could even make copies of it. It's a simple, compact gun that shoots 9mm, so using it in the Metro's confines could be pretty easy, and the ammo could be easy to find and/or make.

I like the Ballista too, it's a powerful and simple weapon. Although I'd say you'd see them put to better use on the surface. Could you imagine smacking down a demon with a massive spear?

Joe and kilroy, I've got just the thing for you guys. There's 3 parts total, and you should definitely check all of them out. And yes, yes, I know, this is like the third time I've brought this channel up in this thread. It really is an awesome channel, though.

Here's one, a home made RPG. All you need is PVC pipe, some minor wiring and enough electricity to make a spark, and a flammable mist.
All you have to do is make a potato gun, easy enough with the pipe and end cap. The wires feed in through the back of your pipe and are sealed. The cap unscrews and your flammable substance is sprayed inside as a mist. Re tighten the cap, then slide your projectile down it and viola, home made rpg.

There's one major draw back for a ballista that I see, reloading/winding it. Sure you can take down a demon or a bear, but what if there's two? As I said before, explain how you'd make assemble it. I don't know if there's rubber bands like what that guy uses around the metro. Or if they'd be used for other things. The RPG is easy enough, but I'd use a metal pipe not PVC. An RPG-2 is pretty simple looking. The redneck mine can be implemented, if your character has a need for it and the stuff they need to build it, they can use in the RP. The PPsh-41 in a confined space is probably more dangerous than a shotgun since it's rof is so insanely high. Also take into account what we already have here: moscovametro2033.proboards.com/thread/31/weapons-equipment-new-guns is a wider selection of guns that do more or less the same thing going to actually help?

Karc does have a really good point. Why add more guns if they do the same thing as the old ones? I do like the rpg and tripmine ideas, though. I might incorporate them into the forum I'm in.

How about an (more or less) controlled "Dust Explosion Barrier", which transform's an seemingly safe tunnel into an deadly pipe FILLED WITH HELLFIRE SO HOT THAT IT EATS TROUGH EVERY PROTECTION THE METRO CAN COME UP WITH AND KILLING EVERYTHING THATS IN ITS PATH OF (over) 2200°C HOT UNFORGIVING DEATH ..... also it cannot be extinguished. If theres any interest, I'll explain my Idea

You mean thermite? Which is a 50/50 mix of iron oxide (rust) dust and aluminum dust. A logical thing to have in the metro since it is used for welding railway tracks together. Add ice blocks and it explodes.
